What is the McCarthy Era?
The Mccarthy Era first began with the Red Scare during the World War I. The red Scare mainly revolved around political radicalism. Years later, during the Cold War, tension between the United States and the Soviet Union rose, due to the fear of communism infiltrating into American culture. The term “The Mccarthy Era” was named after Republican Senator Joseph Mccarthy, who promoted the idea that Americans should fear communism and that anyone who supported communist parties. He believed that they were a threat to the United States, and he thought that it was his mission to attempt to detect and suspect others who deemed to be a threat to the United States.
